Do What You Want - elle fait ce qu'elle veut

Elle fait ce qu'elle veut -- She does what she wants.

 Pierce what you want.
 Go where you want.
Chop off your hair if you want. Dye it, grow it, tie it, curl it, poof it.
Living according to others will drive you mad. It's unsustainable anyways so why try so hard?

Make sure you're content with what you're doing with your life. If not, change things.
Lessons learned from yours truly, the first pancake.

Lilac & the Sunday Blues

From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep I have a horrible feeling that Monday is coming. Does this happen to you? What better way to brighten up a gloomy cold Sunday than with a blog post about a beautiful nail combination!?

Ladies and Gentlemen, today I've got Sally Hansen's "Lacey Lilac" and "Pet My Peacock" from Spoiled. I've used Pet my Peacock before on top of a lovely blue color from Essie, which you can see here.

I had been wanting Essie's Lilacism however, I really wasn't willing to pay the $7-$8 for it. Especially after finding this dupe beaut!
 -----------------------------------------

Spoiled "Pet My Peacock"- Applying this polish does not cause my hassle. It contains teal green, blue, lavender, and silver hexagonal glitters in a clear base. Perfect for layering atop any nail color of your choice.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Lacey Lilac"- This polish is a thick, creamy, fairly opaque polish which takes two coats for full coverage. It is actually much lighter than appears in my photos. I will try to update these when I use this polish again.

And here is a photo of mischievious Mr. Frankie who LOVES yogurt but I am forbidden from sharing with him :(
We hope you have a happy day!
---

Summer Red Lip and Polka Dots

The end of my first real summer is coming to a close. I live in Indiana for most of the year for university and it is getting chilly! The leaves are falling and the wind is crisp! I love and hate the cold. I love the autumn holidays, the incredible multi-colour leaves, the lovely smells (cinnamon, pumpkin, spices, sweet vanilla!). Basically, I'm a cliche girl who enjoys fall jajaja

Anyways, before I go on and on about Fall. This was an interesting summer where I took a god-awful six week statistics course. Of course I needed a beautiful red lipstick when I got the Sunday blues about going back to class!

I used a combination of MAC's Viva Glam I and Rimmel's Exaggerate Lip Liner in Diva Red (024).
Viva Glam I is a beautiful dark brick red. But I don't feel like it has a lot of brown in it though, it's mostly just a more intense, deeper red. I really prefer this color to MAC's Russian Red (don't kill me!) because Russian Red is a bit brighter. It looks amazing on everyone! I just don't feel like it suits me well :( The Rimmel Lip Liner is a brighter pink-tinged cherry red. It's not an exact match but I just picked it out really quickly and I wasn't bothered by matching it exactly (but maybe this part is more important than I think it is) and it was cheap so hey! Why the heck not!

I decided to wear this Polka Dot dress from F21 that my father and stepmom got me. I really like how simple and classy it is! Sorry about the wind and the seat belt! Safety first jajaja

I wore this combo the other day at my University the other Saturday. I was initially intimidated but it was a simple day studying with my two good friends so I decided to give it a whirl! Do you ever feel intimidated to wear such a bold lip color around school/friends/people you know?

Mr. Hobo hopes you all have a great week!

Pink Jelly & Glitter Nails

I created this simple manicure with Zoya’s “Bela” and “Tazmanian Devil” from Confetti which you can most likely get at a CVS.

“Bela” is fairly sheer but it is a beautiful baby pink color. I was initially going to make a “Jelly Glitter Sandwich” by inserting a layer of glitter between coats of Bela but I decided that it made the glitter way too dull. Here’s an example of what it would have looked like,

This is what I ended up with,

And here is a photos of our adorable (pain in the ass kitten) Mister Frankie. Such a hilarious weirdo.

 Have a wonderful weekend!

Sheer Red Lip Friday! - Nivea Fruity Shine Cereza

I have got to be up for work and class in 6 hours! But I wanted to make a quick post before bed. I have recently been super interested in sheer red lip products. I think they look so beautiful, especially now that winter is coming.

Here I have a sheer red lip balm from Nivea which I got in Argentina last summer. Now, it is in Spanish but I know that the same one is sold in the U.S. When I have time I will find the name in English and edit it into this post!

I LOVE this lip balm. When I was growing up in Bolivia I had one for YEARS and I would barely ever use it because I felt that it was too pigmented (I was only 11-16 years old. Now I feel like I really have to load it on to get coverage but it is a great product. It has EXTREMELY small silver glitters that are barely noticeable but add shine.

Well, I'm off to sleep! Have a great day/night/etc!

Summer (Confusion): Revlon’s Peach Pango Lip Gloss & Lover’s Coral Lipstick Swatches

Hello everyone! I live in the snow for most of the year and this is the first time in two years that I am experiencing a full blown summer because I am usually in Argentina during the summer in the U.S. (down there it is winter when it is summer here). When I come back to the U.S. I experience the very end of summer right before classes resume. So I have had a plethora of new experiences which include farmer’s tan, clothing confusion, and makeup confusion… as well as nail polish confusion. I have gotten pretty used to what colors I wear on myself and now that I am tan I am having a difficult time dressing myself and well… painting myself. It is unbelievable how much of a difference skin tone makes when wearing certain colors! I used to ALWAYS wear berry colors on my lips and nails because it went well with my skin tone and now I look like a clown when I wear them!

Anyways, during my 2-year-long winter I had at times desired to wear “summery colors” (especially peach/orange) but of course most did not look good. The other day (like 4 weeks ago) when I was perusing blogs I came across Revlon’s new releases and I decided I wanted to try Pango Peach and Lover’s Coral.

Pango Peach is a creamy pinky/peachy color with golden shimmers that almost look like flakes. It’s not very sticky and has a strange smell that is not gross and fades away!

Lover’s Coral looks very intimidating but actually goes on a very sheer (which I love) wash of pinky/orange.

I’ve included tons of photos to show the glitter/flakes and colors so ya’ll know what I’m talkin bout. (It was an overcast day at the park so the flakes might not shimmer as much)

These lip swatches are not very accurate because it was overcast and my lips are pretty pigmented now because of the sun and the shadows are all wrong! But I included it in case you have a similar skin tone to mine and also because I really appreciate when bloggers take their time to post lip swatches (even though these are shoddy).

 Thanks for reading!

MAC's Creme in Your Coffee Swatch

Hello everyone! I've taken an unexpected hiatus from blogging due to the demands made from my wonderful statistics class... *cue vomit*
Although I appreciate the education, am learning tons and getting the course out of the way, I don't expect I will ever take to math.

Anyways, this week I was in San Francisco with my father and stepmother and we had a great time! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit such a lovely city.
While there I got MAC's rosy brown MLBB lipstick "Creme in Your Coffee". I had been wanting this color for ages but I couldn't justify it's simplicity. Especially because I own MAC's "Syrup" and I felt it was too similar (judging off online swatches). However, Syrup is truly more of a plummy mauve on me.

This lipstick is a cremesheen finish. It's not overly drying but I do like to use it with a lip balm under it to give a more glossy finish.
Overall, I really enjoy this lipstick and I'm looking forward to wearing it more often in the fall when my skin gets paler.

Sheer Snapdragon Swatch & NOTD!

Hello! It's been forever since I've posted because I've just been lazying around before my summer statistics class begins *insert pukey face*.

Anyways! I've got a beautiful buttery lipstick swatch and review that I promised in my previous awkward post here and a nail of the day today. The lipstick is "Sheer Snapdragon" from Flower which is sold only at Walmart if I'm not mistaken. The lipstick smells divine and I can't describe it but I love it! However, the smell might not be to everyone's liking so beware that it does smell (wonderful)!
The color is an orangey-red with very small golden glitters that are barely noticeable but add to the color. It also feels very moisturizing and smooth. The only complaint that I have is the packaging. I don't think there's anything wrong with it aesthetically, but the cap thingy came off and the plastic part sort of crackled like cheap plastic does :( It's been increasingly hard to close it again once I've opened it but I can deal with that :)

Hola!

The problem...
El problema...

The cracked plastic...
El plastico medio partido...

Swatched lightly and heavily.

My Sister’s Nails (Owl Design)…Las Uñas De Mi Hermana (Diseño de Buho)

I am well aware that Owls are becoming quite common in today’s younger generation… I see people with owl tattoos, earrings, necklaces, shirts, bags etc you name it, everywhere… Anyways! Over this Christmas break I went home to visit and got to see my family. I did my sister’s nails and this is what came out. Please note that this isn’t my design, I saw a picture on the internet of this design.

Hormone Talk & Lipstick Promises

a : lacking social grace and assurance <an awkward newcomer>
Yep, so that’s what awkward is. Yep, I definitely fall into that ‘category’, if you will. I never understood the American use of the word awkward as in, “I was awkwardly standing there.” I cannot understand how someone can stand somewhere in an awkward manner. Anyways, I will be lacking some social grace within this post but hopefully making up for it with a hopeful lipstick promise.

So… Breasts. I recently went to buy new bras. I was aware that my breasts had reduced in size. I am 20 years old, never been pregnant, and am not on any hormone altering medication, nor have I lost any weight. When I was 18 they grew overnight and I had an extremely hard time finding stores that carried my size. I foolishly loathed my breasts instead of loving and accepting myself. After a while I got over my abnormal size. When I went in to get sized a few weeks ago I found out I had lost an entire cup size! I went to Frederick’s of Hollywood and bought the same style I had before… only one cup smaller :(

I was surprisingly sad and dumbfounded at the news! I had finally accepted that it is what I had and I was OK with it. Ah humans. We desire what we don’t have and when we have it we uselessly long for what once was before our desires were granted.

So ladies and gents, this is a cliche message but nevertheless required a lot of courage to spew (it’s not a simple thing… to talk so freely of one’s undergarment fluctuations). Desperately try to appreciate what you do or don’t have at the moment. I don’t mean material possessions nor people around you, not that I am disregarding the importance of others, but be a little self-centered and love yourself. Now that I am 20 years old I have observed my body make small changes here and there from age 16. Some I have eagerly welcomed, other changes… not so much. I’ve tried to adapt a new perspective to the inevitable perpetual changes, I look in the mirror and tell myself… “Enjoy what you got, kid.”

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” – Dr. Seuss

So… now onto appreciate my new size AGAIN. This is made infinitely easier by the lacy design of the comfy flattering bras. I got one in black and nude (essentials).

So I’ve got to ask, can this be an alteration of my hormones? I currently do not have health insurance to go find out! If this has happened to you as well please do dish if you don’t mind!

Here is a photo of a new lipstick I recently purchased and I promise I will be posting about soon! I lerve it so much!
